Various groups banjo player Harry Reser led during the 1920's included Six Jumping Jacks, the Cliquot Eskimos and The Rounders. Vocalist Tom Stacks also is heard on the soundtrack to this photo collage.
Abe Lyman was a composer and band leader during the 1920's and 1930's, who recorded for Victor. His society sound was sometimes uplifted with sounds of jazz, as we shall hear in the soundtrack of this video, with his rendition of "Milenberg Joys" as recorded in 1932.
In 1929 Tal Henry and his North Carolinian's were featured in a nine minute Vitaphone performing three songs. Nothing is really known about this territory band, except that they played in a Casino, and that this rendition of "Come on Baby" is extremely hot! The clarinet player is Walter Fellman and the trombonist is Chet Lincoln.
This clip of Lud Gluskin's band was filmed in the early 1930's somewhere in Europe. Gluskin was the only American bandleader of the 20's and 30's who continously toured Europe. Although the images are poor in quality by today's standards, it is jazz history nontheless.
